NATIONAL CADET CORPS (N.C.C)

Introduction

The N.C.C raises the slogan Unity and Discipline. N.C.C exist to imbibe students with culture of decency & dignity, enabling them to establish themselves as citizens with educational, intellectual, moral, spiritual integrity and sincerity, which is also one of the objectives of our college. This motivated us to encourage our students to enroll in National Cadet Corps, the biggest Youth Organization in the nation.

History

Our students were enrolling in different units of Army, Navy and Air wing of N.C.C in different colleges of Mumbai. After the commissioning of one of our lecturers as an Associate N.C.C Officer, a sub unit of 1 Mah. Armd. Sqn N.C.C was started in the year 1998 to enable the students of Vasai to practice in Vasai. Our unit is having a cadet strength of 80. The enrollment is open to the students of colleges affiliated to the Mumbai University. Since 1998, 80 cadets were enrolled every year to the sub-unit of 1 Mah. Armd. Sqn N.C.C.

Training under NCC

  1. Drill & Parade Training
    • Regular parade sessions to instill discipline and teamwork.
    • March pasts and ceremonial drills for college events and national celebrations.
  2. Weapon Training
    • Basic rifle handling and firing practice under supervision.
    • Safety and marksmanship training.
  3. Camps & Adventure Activities
    • Annual Training Camp (ATC), Republic Day Camp (RDC), and Thal Sainik Camp (TSC).
    • Trekking, rock climbing, parasailing, and obstacle courses.
  4. Social Service & Community Outreach
    • Blood donation drives, cleanliness campaigns (Swachh Bharat), and tree plantation.
    • Awareness rallies on health, environment, and civic duties.
  5. Leadership & Personality Development
    • Lectures on leadership, national integration, and soft skills.
    • Opportunities to lead platoons and organize events.
  6. National Celebrations
    • Participation in Independence Day, Republic Day, and NCC Day events.
    • Cultural performances and patriotic programs.
  7. Academic Integration
    • Our college NCC is offered as a credit-based elective course in Cocurricular activities in NCC.

NCC 'B' and 'C' Certificate Examinations

'B' Certificate Examination

  • Eligibility:
    • Must be in the 2nd year of NCC training in the Senior Division/Wing.
    • Minimum 75% attendance in training sessions over the first two years.
    • Must have attended at least one Annual Training Camp (ATC) or equivalent (e.g., NIC, attachment with Army/Navy/Air Force units).
    • Cadets with an 'A' Certificate receive 10 bonus marks.
  • Exam Structure:
    • Written Test: Covers subjects like drill, weapon training, map reading, civil defense, and leadership.
    • Practical Test: Includes parade, rifle handling, and fieldcraft.

'C' Certificate Examination

  • Eligibility:
    • Must have passed the 'B' Certificate.
    • Should be in the 3rd year of NCC training.
    • Minimum 75% attendance in 3rd-year training sessions.
    • Must have attended one ATC plus one additional camp, such as:
      Republic Day Camp (RDC)
      National Integration Camp (NIC)
      Para Training Camp (PTC)
      Centrally Organized Camp (COC)
      Attachment with Armed Forces units
      Adventure activities like mountaineering, sailing, or trekking
  • Exam Structure:
    • Written Test: More advanced topics including national integration, leadership, and defense studies.
    • Practical Test: Drill, weapon training, and specialized tasks depending on the cadet's wing.
  • Officers and Parade Instructors

    • N.C.C takes the lead role in hoisting the flag and celebrating the Independence Day and the Republic Day.
    • The overall discipline of the college becomes an onerous duty of the N.C.C at almost all times.
    • In the current academic year, Lt. Col. R K Shyam Singh is the Officer Commanding of 1 MAH. ARMD. SQN. NCC.
    • Lieutenant Dr. Nandkumar Zambare is the Associated N.C.C Officer in charge of 1 MAH. ARMD. SQN. NCC., St. Gonsalo Garcia College sub-unit, Vasai.
    • The Parade Instructors were under the leadership of Rashildar Charan Singh, The Parade Instructors are SQMD Santosh Patil, SDM Talapada and SDM Nilesh Zote.
    • Current year Cadet Krushal Pawar is selected as the Senior Under Officer. He took initiative in leading the cadets in various activities.

    Other than this, our cadets have also helped in maintaining discipline during various activities held in the college.
